Cross River Govt Boosts Para-Sports with Wheelchair Donation Ahead of Niger Delta Games Edo and Para- Games Abuja 2026

The Chairman of the Cross River State Sports Commission, Hon. Etta Lawrence, on behalf of the state government, presented two brand new wheelchairs to two physically challenged athletes at the Sports Commission on the 6th February 2026.

The gesture reflects the commitment of the administration of His Excellency, Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Otu, to People-First governance and inclusive development.

Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Etta Lawrence stated that the donation was aimed at improving the athletes’ mobility, comfort, and performance ahead of major competitions. He explained that the support would help the beneficiaries give their best as they prepare for the forthcoming Niger Delta Games in Edo State and the National Para-Games in Abuja.

He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to supporting athletes of all abilities and promoting sports excellence in the state.

In response, the beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude to the Cross River State Government and praised Hon. Etta Lawrence for his leadership and compassion. They described the gesture as timely and impactful and pledged to work harder to make the state proud at the upcoming competitions.
