Prince Otu Veterans Super League 2026 Opens with Thrilling 1-1 Draw as Allianz SC and Talent All Stars Share Spoils

The second edition of the Prince Otu Veterans Super League 2026 commenced in a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere in Calabar, Cross River State, as veteran athletes gathered to promote unity, fitness, and camaraderie through sports.

The opening football fixture of the multi-sport competition was held on June 7, 2026, at the U.J. Esuene Stadium Training Pitch, where Allianz Sports Club FC and Talent All Stars FC battled to an entertaining 1-1 draw.
Allianz Sports Club FC took the lead through Igbo Orji, who opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. However, Talent All Stars FC responded strongly, with Godfrey Dagogo finding the equalizer to ensure both sides shared the spoils at full time.

Before kickoff, the Chairman of the Games, Hon. Chief Emmanuel Ironbar, represented by the Co-Chairman and Chairman of the Cross River State Sports Commission, Hon. Etta Lawrence, addressed players, officials, and supporters. He emphasized that the primary objective of the competition is to unite veteran sportsmen across Cross River State, providing a platform for healthy recreation, networking, and lifelong friendship.

According to him, the Prince Otu Veterans Super League is more than a sporting event; it is a vehicle for social cohesion and community development. He expressed confidence that the second edition would surpass previous achievements in participation, organization, and impact.

Hon. Lawrence further noted that the initiative enjoys the strong support of the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Apostle Senator Bassey Edet Otu, whose commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of veterans has been instrumental to the growth of the competition.

The Prince Otu Veterans Super League 2026 features 10 sporting events and is expected to bring together veteran athletes from across the state, reinforcing the values of unity, healthy living, and sportsmanship.
As the tournament progresses, spectators can look forward to weeks of competitive action and memorable moments as veteran athletes continue to demonstrate that passion for sports transcends age.
